If you’re looking for ORCA Life insurance reviews, you want to know if they’re a good company to do business with. We’ll explain who they are, what products they sell, and take a look at their reviews on the Better Business Bureau website, Google, and Facebook.
ORCA Life is a brokerage, which means they sell insurance products on behalf of their contracted insurance providers. ORCA’s president, Glen Crabtree, selected the company’s focus: final expense policies. After originally selling pre-paid funerals, he decided final expense was a better value for the consumer and switched focus. Since its establishment in 2016, the company has continued to focus on final expense, with a recent expansion into Medicare and annuities. This brokerage offers policies from American Memorial Life (Assurant), Columbian Life, Gerber Life, and Liberty Bankers Life. In 2022, the company helped over 22,000 clients set up their final expense policies.
Final expense coverage is a particular type of whole life insurance. Like the name suggests, whole life covers you for the rest of your life and does not expire (unlike a term life policy). As long as you stay current with your payments, the policy is guaranteed to pay out to your loved ones when they file a claim.
With final expense policies, face values are relatively low, often topping out at $25,000. If you’re worried about leaving your loved ones with bills they can’t pay in order to provide you with a funeral, this type of coverage solves that problem. It pays a cash death benefit your beneficiary(ies) can use to pay for your funeral and final expenses. That cash is 100% income-tax-free, so your loved ones can use every dollar.
Don’t underestimate how many expenses you may leave behind. Those expenses could include medical bills, nursing home bills, credit card bills, and utility bills, as well as funeral and burial costs. Many families underestimate how much of an impact these final bills can have on their overall bottom line. It’s a huge relief to have cash on hand to pay those bills so they can focus on the grieving process.
Because ORCA Life is a broker and not an insurer, they don’t have financial ratings from institutions such as AM Best. They are, however, accredited with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) with an A+ rating (as of November 2023). They have been accredited since 2017. Keep in mind that this rating doesn’t reflect customer reviews – it reflects the BBB’s estimation of how likely the company is to interact with consumers.
